%name Q&A with Northern Powerhouse Partner: Eddie Stobart

Why did you decide to become a Northern Powerhouse partner?
Supporting the local economy and investing in skills is important to Eddie Stobart. We felt that the goals and ambitions of the Northern Powerhouse aligned closely to our own and we look forward to working together to help build on the North’s economic potential.

Why is being a part of the Northern Powerhouse Partner Programme important to your organisation?
We’re extremely proud of our Northern heritage and are thrilled to be supporting diverse business growth right across the North. As a partner, we’re highlighting our commitment to the local economy and to celebrate the partnership, we’ve had one of our lorries branded up to help amplify the campaign. We’re looking forward to what 2018 will bring, as we build local skills and talent through our training academy in Appleton, where we’re working hard to re-define standards in logistics and lay foundations for tomorrow’s supply chain needs.

What’s your favourite thing about the North?
It may sound cliché but it is definitely the people.  A lingering industrial culture produces a sense that we’re all in this together.  Within Eddie Stobart we emanate this through our values and deliver success through teamwork; not only with our colleagues but working together with our customers and suppliers in the creation of long term relationships. Culturally, we have some of the UK’s best musicians, artists and comedians originating from the North.  We value achievement through hard work but know how to have fun whilst doing it.  Making us the best people to work with!
