1st August is Yorkshire Day, so we’re celebrating the work of some of our Yorkshire partners and wishing a Happy Yorkshire Day to all!
BJSS
Leeds-based BJSS are leading the way in digital skills. Their Graduates, Apprentices and Placement Year students contribute towards delivering live client projects and they become increasingly ‘hands-on’ as they develop their skills. Also, unlike some other programmes, Graduates are full-time, permanent BJSS employees, so they don’t need to reapply for a role after completing the programme.
Over the year, they complete dedicated Graduate modules in our internal BJSS:Academy programme and they also deliver a graduate technology project, which in 2017 won Pro-bono company of the year category in the Better Society awards.
Find out more about their work by watching their videos on graduates and apprentices.
York Cocoa House and York Cocoa Works
York-based York Cocoa House and York Cocoa Works have big plans to drive forward chocolate manufacturing in York. Sophie Jewett, Managing Director of York Cocoa House explains:
“We’re continually inspired by the chocolate heritage, industry and innovation that York was once famous for. With the opening of York Cocoa Works we’re proud to now be manufacturing British Chocolate back in York. Through collaboration across the industry our chocolate manufacturing, education and innovation centre based in the centre of York is now tackling sustainable sourcing, flavour quality and sugar reduction challenges for the chocolate sector.
“Our innovations are allowing us to develop market leading products and services to better offer quality, flavour, impact and sustainability from cocoa sourcing to chocolate making.
“York’s chocolate heritage, outstanding regional expertise and unique location has been critical to our journey, we are now excited to be sharing our chocolate more widely and are looking forward to becoming more involved in the Northern Powerhouse activity through the partner programme.”
